Sunday, November 27 – First Sunday of Advent

The birth of Christ was a slow burn across the ancient horizons. For 400 years, since the prophet Malachi anticipated the rise of his healing wings across the sky, the deep silence of space had been empty of all signs of a redemptive melody. But slowly, gently, God continued work on His master opus. From the tender awe of the virgin Mary to the stunning prophesy of Zechariah, the night-splitting announcement of the angels to the joyful tears of the old man, Simeon, God began to conduct this, the opening overture of the New Covenant.

The Birth of Jesus, God’s own Son, is truly the greatest feat and noblest symphony the universe has ever witnessed. Never have the heavens or earth displayed such a skillful harmony as in the time of Jesus’ birth…and when the heavens start singing, we can’t help but pay attention…for Christ will come again, with a shout and the sound of a piercing trumpet, to break through the darkness and establish His Kingdom of light, once and for all.

My hope is that this season might drive you to a deeper and richer experience in Jesus Christ. The effects of that will continue shaping your life long after the details of Christmas are forgotten.

Your Pastor,
Rob Hock
