The Great Adventure 2016

Summer Mission Trips

At SPC, we’re taking the Good News everywhere—“bridging the gap”—during our annual Great Adventure. In the coming days and weeks, we will be sending teams to Camp PYOCA, Kids Camp, Missouri, Morris Fork, Chicago, Mexico, and even sharing the gospel with friends and neighbors right here at SPC.

Each mission team will face unique challenges along the way. You can read about our mission teams’ activities, prayer requests, and growth on our Great Adventure blog. Click here to access the blog. Bookmark the page or enter your email address at the right to receive updates by email.

Camp PYOCA, June 4–10 @ Brownstown, IN

At Camp PYOCA, sixth, seventh and eighth graders leave behind their smart phones, iPods and gaming systems—and experience God’s creation through hiking, swimming, boating, games, Bible study, worship, devotions, friendships and much more.

Kids Camp, June 5–10 @ Nashville, IN

Our team of kids, adults and teens will be traveling to a new location this year and will spend the week learning about God and taking part in outdoor adventures, in-depth Bible study, worship, water sports, games, crafts and challenges as they get away from their normal surroundings.

Morris Fork Bible School, June 18–25 @ Morris Fork, KY
For three decades, SPC has been taking teams to provide summer Bible school at Morris Fork Presbyterian Chapel. The event brings together groups and families who wouldn’t connect in any other place—yet they come simply to be present where the Lord is.

Multi-Sport Camp, June 20–24 @ SPC
“The Great Comeback” Multi-Sport Camp invites players to learn the skills of basketball, soccer or cheer while gaining team building skills through Bible verses and biblical principles.

Chicago Mission Trip, June 26–July 2 @ Chicago, IL
A group of junior high students and adults are traveling to Chicago to partner with The Center for Student Missions. We’ll do VBS ministry in urban parks, serve meals in soup kitchens, visit assisted living centers and work in homeless shelters.

Missouri Mission Trip, July 9–16 @ Cape Girardeau, MO
SPC’s senior high students are teaming up with Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri to help bring relief and restoration efforts to those who suffered the severe flooding in December 2015. The specific work details will become more clear in the summer, based on the increasing needs of the community and residents of the city of Cape Girardeau.

Vacation Bible School, July 11–15 @ SPC

During VBS week at SPC, our church gets transformed into a new and exciting place. More than 300 kids and their families will walk through our doors daily to sing amazing songs, experience biblical truths, eat terrific snacks, play lively games and make dynamic crafts. This is a week of memorable times and changed lives!

Community Fish Fry, July 15 @ SPC
For the fifth straight year, SPC will host our free Community Fish Fry, open to all. This event is your ideal opportunity to invite friends, neighbors and relatives to learn more about SPC. All guests get to enjoy free food and entertainment while experiencing the loving, vibrant community that is SPC.

Beyond Basketball Camps, July 18–22 @ SPC
Beyond Basketball teaches the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting and defending. Sessions include daily Bible lessons to bring players and their families closer to God.

Mexico Mission Trip, October 9–15 @ Texas/Mexico Border
Since 1994, SPC has been sending work teams to support Faith Ministry, which serves the poorest of the poor in Mexico along the Texas border. The ministry’s mission is to build houses for families, provide churches and medical services for the community and help children attend school.
