A Stephen Minister can help.
Stephen Ministers are caring, compassionate members of our congregation who have had special training as Stephen Ministers. For those who request a Stephen Minister, they will meet approximately one hour a week, to listen and be a friend. They are NOT professional counselors. They WILL maintain your privacy as they show you Christ's love.
The Stephen Ministry was started at Southport Presbyterian Church in 1988, by our long time members, Kenny and Tindy Simon. Pastor Kevin Bausman trained with them and these three began the ministry. Since then, over 65 people have been trained and have become Stephen Ministers!
What is the Stephen Ministry?
The Stephen Ministry is a non-denominational Christian education organization that provides training and resources to support lay ministry in congregations. The Stephen Ministry started in St. Louis, MO, and is now active in over 8,500 congregations and 100 denominations worldwide!
