Deacon’s Ministry

The SPC Board of Deacons demonstrates the love of Christ through service to the SPC congregation and the surrounding community. For the congregation, Deacons serve as ushers during worship services and make preparations for the Sacrament of Communion. They assist in medical emergencies during worship services and deliver audio tapes of worship services to shut-ins. For our community, Deacons reach out with compassion to demonstrate that God is love in several different ways.

The Deacons:

  • Operate God's Pantry which contains a supply of non-perishable food that is distributed to people who need short-term help.
  • The Deacon's Fund, supported by the Communion offering of each month, provides financial assistance for individuals and families with legitimate needs. Assistance may include help with rent, utility bills and groceries. Persons in need can contact the church office and a Deacon will contact them to begin the assistance process.
  • Arrange for our church to teach Sunday school classes at the Juvenile Detention Center during November.
  • Organize the SPC Blood Drive in cooperation with the Central Indiana Regional Blood Center.

Your support of these ministries of compassion is appreciated.
